Title: Paid Employment! Yayyyyy!
Post by: DocClox on February 24, 2010, 04:53:58 AM
I have a job! I just had the phone call; start Monday.

That's good news for my bank account, but it pretty much means the end of my coding on the project. (Not that I've done a huge amount lately, granted). I'll be up for the odd bugfix here and there, but nothing major while I have a paying gig. Trying to write code all day at work and then work on a second project at home is not a good idea.

That said, it's only contract work, so I may be back with renewed vigor in six months time. Meanwhile .... it's been fun :)

Great news! Paying jobs are always good.
Gee, with everyone getting jobs, I might be the last unemployed still fooling around. (I'm becoming a bum)

And, well, if in six months you come back with renewed vigor, It's win-win for you and us, right?

Congrats Doc!

And don't worry Sigfried, I'm still a member of the exclusive club of the unemployed.

I'm there! Well, I'm back now, but I been there two days. Not as much fun as hacking on WM, but the pay is unquestionably better ;)

Thanks for the good wishes, everyone :)

Great! You get money and start thinking how coding WM was great fun and all that.
When you get back, you'll be craving to code WM.
(Whishfull thinking)

If it helps further development I'll be hoping. Doc had some really interesting visions for the future of WM, it's sad to see him go. (for now) But you can't deny a paycheck.

At least you're still on the forum Doc!

well if he stood on the street corner for about 3-4 hours a day, he could make enough money to live off of AND still have time to work on WM

I hate to sound hen-pecked, but my wife might not see it quite that way. ;)

Well, yeah, now I see.

Seriously...

Yes having a wife is a major factor in the amount of time I spend coding, my wife has luckily been very patient, but being in the army part time and returning to UNI to finish my degree (though I only had 3 subjects left :) has left me with little free time and I need to spend a lot of that with her.
