Too long?

By the time I owned 3 brothels, had 35 odd girls and got protection money from over 100 businesses I felt it had been going on too long.

Having that many girls 'on the go' at once meant that it wasn't really practical to micromanage them and there's only so much reading about their activities that you can do before they get repetitive.

Thinking about it ... an initial brothel that can hold 20 girls is pretty massive. 250 businesses in a city to extort from is also pretty massive.

I think the first three brothels should be something like '5', '10', '20'. It also seems odd that you have to extort money in order to buy new brothels. Seems like a rather arbitrary restriction.

Long term, I think it would be better if you could 'win' the game in a shorter time, but add replay bonuses. e.g. Each time you 'win' the game you can choose one girl to automatically inherit from father. Maybe bonus starting money and/or items as well.

Some plot like developments as the game proceeds would also be nice. (Interaction with NPCs, for example).

Everyone play is different... by the time I get third brothel I have over 300 unique girls.

I don't see any difference in the amount of girls you have "on the go" if they are all unique... the more = the merrier! I hardly ever read about their activities unless it's in red and sometimes purple on the "Next Week" reports...

Thinking about it...  This is the second post you make where I point out that you focus on the beginning of the round more than on anything else. Initial brothel can hold 250 girls, not 20 :)

 If the first three brothels were limited to 5, 10 and 20 it would kill the game for anyone who uses over a few hundred unique girls cause you would have to play hours before you can really "take off".

Yeap... Some plot developments like in SlaveMaker would be great, also adding Beauty salons, Warrior/Mages guilds, Hairdressers and so on would be a great improvement. Maybe even paired with something like setting a max possible stats for all girls at 305. Maximum of 100 can be given from the start, 50 can be gained within the walls of your brothel through training with other girls, on hand experience and normal items (Up to 150 regardless of girl's stats at the start), 50 from guilds, beauty salons and etc, 50 through expensive/hard to get specialized items and another 55 from some unique hardcoded traits like "Legendary Warrior" after lets say 500 kills, "Security Specialist" for security girls, "CEO" for matrons and so on.

All and all, there are plenty of bad, good and great ideas on this forum, the trouble is that there is noone to implement them :(

OK, I've been thinking about this and I think the 'next week' button should be turned into the 'next month' button.

Reasoning: Children take around 1.2 years to become 17 years old. Yes - you can have a 19 year old slave with a 17 year old daughter.

If the basic time unit was a month instead of a year babies would be born much faster, but you could have a more realistic number of turns for the kids to grow up. 204 turns instead of 60 turns to become adult is a bit of a jump, but at least you wouldn't be violating basic mathematics. :-P

You could also explicitly have 17 being the legal age of adulthood in Crossgate, with it being illegal to have slaves under that age forced to work. Underage slaves would be subject to massive fines with the slave kicked out on the street to starve relocated to a caring foster home.

So at, say, age 11 you could have the option to sell the kid illegally or chuck them into boarding school (costs money) and sell them for more without the risk of arrest at 17 (or keep them as a legal slave).

 Presents another problem... if you have a lot of girls and want a long game most will have to retire due to the old age before you are done... Also, the mechanics will have to be altered so a girl can do 30 - 40 clients (presumably) at cheaper price... Maybe some sort of an accelerated growth potion that you can use while the child still is in mother's womb, maybe even paired with an intelligence increasing potion that would have to be used unless you want kid with a retarded trait.

 In any case, that never really bothered me...

Not with Wands of Lolita and similar items. I don't see why MILFs can't go up to 40 anyway.

Instead of Morning/Night shift we could just report once per week.  Most reports could be brief summaries "Week 1: [Name] saw [number] clients this week, they were well satisfied with her work." with special events being given much more detail (losing virginity, getting raped, getting better at a task, etc.)

Cause 40 is a pretty respectable age for a prostitute. Not mentioning that a girl that comes in at 20 will turn 40 in 240 turns. If you have the whole Active Girl List downloaded by the time you get the last girl, all of the once you got in the beginning will be 50+ and having to use 300+ Lolita Wands is a nightmare...

I've got nothing against the time for pregnancy. It's the time for a newborn human (or part human) to grow up that's weird.

I've meant both + we don't have any idea how fast a hybrid would grow up :)

I didn't know that... But you will still have to give her the item, it's to expensive for most girls to buy one from the shop... I never had to find out if it works in practice either cause twenty years is more then 1000 weeklong turns. Games becomes increasingly boring when you run out of unique girls to recruit, then you want to start over.

I don't really think it's worth redoing time scaling. I play with a very large quantity of girls, so I'd rather not decrease the focus to a small number of girls, but I can see why someone would want to.

One thing I'd liked to have seen was a level requirement for entering the next brothel. I use a system for this, actually - I don't graduate a girl to the 2nd brothel until she reaches level 7, 3rd = lvl 13, 4th = lvl 19, 5 = lvl 25, and finally you can't enter the last brothel until level 30. Probably my biggest annoyance with my system is that I can't see what level everyone is on the main management screen, so I can't just arrange everyone by their level.

What would probably work best for making the game stay interesting after the beginning is to have a slow progression into whatever it is you want a girl to be. Kind of like what you see in Slavemaker. You would keep a girl on a certain job to obtain whatever traits and have them turn into something, like a bimbo, whore, MILF, maid, sword girl, cat girl, demon girl, stuff like that. So you could have a girl start out as a Tsundere/Yandere and decide you want to turn her into a maid, but instead of just throwing on items like you do now, you would have to make her love cleaning and service by repeating tasks or types of sex, and maybe have certain equipment (maid uniform).
This is the last week of bug fixes. Barring anything catastrophic, development of a "sequel" to WM EX begins next week. If there is a major bug that hasn't been addressed, say so now or you're going to have to wait quite a long time for it to be fixed.

That sounds like about my level of competence. :-P

'K, it needs a couple of small changes to cScreenGirlManagement.cpp and some tweaks to girl_management_screen.xml

I've just made and checked them on my local copy, I can try to put a tweaked .exe file up for download somewhere if you want. :-)

Meh, will do.

Incidentally, it should be possible to change it so that
a) Columns can be resized by the user.
b) Which headers are included can be changed by the user.

That's a little bit more work than I really want to do for now, though.
