Hopefully a few of you remember me, and remember Hentai High School (the original). There have been a few remakes in the past year or two, so it might be tough to remember which is which. I'm the guy that's mostly sticking to the original design. At least moreso than most of the other versions. If you have never heard of Pooolka or the original HHS, you are a bad person, but you should still try this game out.
Anyhow, I've put up a new version, 0.3.
It brings the old colored orbs back in as a form of currency. You can buy a handful of effects and classes and whatnot with your build up orbs. I've expanded all sorts of old content, including a new class of visit events, and a new place to visit. Should be a decent hour or two of content if you really want it. Lemme know what you all think.

Not bad, like the orbs in the new version, but I am really getting annoyed by the year limit. Half the time I can't make headway due to teacher strikes or something severely limiting my budget. Should have an option to remove the 20 year limit and just leave it open (expecially since compared to other versions of HHS, 20 years with 4 actions a year is only 80 actions compared to three times that in other version or more). The randomness of the game in addition to the limited amount of actions is a real detriment to being able to even corrupt the students within the time limit.
-
open the save file in notepad, etc and change the first line to 21 (it is the year you last saved), it only checks if year==20 so if you change to year >20 you have no time limit :)
-
great game! looking forward to newer versions :D
-
A lot of cool new content, but the window that shows the stats isn't opening. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thank you very much drake :D

Nice to see that you're still working on it Hedonismbot :)

The save file is still an open format, and if you want extra stuff, it shouldn't be too tough to figure out what to change. I'm planning on keeping it open for the next version (to help debugging), but ultimately it will end up encrypted. Much like how the images are now.
.Net is kinda lame about how it spawns windows. For some reason it does it wrong sometimes. A lot of people have found that the stat window spawns underneath the main window. If you move the main window around a little, hopefully you will see it. I've put some effort into a framework for new GUIs in this version. The next version will have a selection of which GUI you want. Either the current, classic-flavored one, or a new, full-screenable, no popup version. Should be a solution for people who have to deal with .Net inconsistency.
I am still working on it. Just not as regularly as I'd like. My other projects take a lot more attention, and this is my low-priority game. Still, it's a lot of fun, and just starting to get into a shape I like. This version gives a decent amount of control as to what stat gets what, but the next will be far better for it. That's my main beef with the game so far. You get a lot of stats, pretty much all at the same time, homogeneously. Once I add policies, you will be able to trade one stat for another, and they won't all move up the exact same anymore. Should make the game more interesting, and foster different play styles.
-
Decent game, I remember it well, but it gets boring after a few plays but I'll give the new version a try for sure.

I think it's fun to run through once with the year limitation turned off. Once you've been at 100 of all stats for a while you run out of new events ;-)
-
Great stuff, hedonismbot :) Your version appears to be taking shape faster than the others. I hope to see a new version again soon :D
-
hope there comes soon a new version^^

Just updated the links to 0.3.1. The new version changes a few balances, fixes a bug or two, and corrects many typos. There are also a lot more events for the baths when you have low corruption levels.

Thanks for the great game. Do you have an official web site/blog?
-
I don't. I would do something like that, or get into the big HentHigh group site (henthighchool.com), but my development schedule would make either look weird. I do two other games, both higher priority. That's why I disappear for months at a time. If I had a blog or something, it'd be a flurry of activity three times a year, then months of terrible, terrible silence.
-
Updated links to 0.3.2. This fixes more stuff, adds more baths images, and makes the price quotes much more reasonable when you've purchased the 'smart accounting'.

Very nice, keep up the good work.

I have a dual monitor setup and the second window absolutely refuses to open for me. Not sure which version of .net I have, I need to look for it. Any ideas?
Edit: .net is version 4.
Edit2: If you turn off the second display or do duplicate displays it works. Only with extended displays do you have a problem.
-
The following events have no pictures.
The bath event with the Popsicle girl shows no picture.
The gym event where it mentions girls playing on a different side of the gym from boys but they don't mind you watching.
Other issues:
Teachers get options for focusing on areas they are already 100 at. Perhaps you can put in a check for that
The option to lower inhibition after you get it to 40 says that it will lower it to 60. I imagine it should say 20 or 0.
-
Fixed both events with missing pictures. I really do appreciate when people let me know about these. It's always a minor typo in the image name from my end.
I've heard the inhibition cap thing before, but I can't replicate it. Every time I do it, the readout is correct. I'll keep an eye out for it on my playthroughs.
I let you specialize once you've hit 100 because that's probably the easiest path to color orbs. There is a pretty good probability of getting the orb associated with that stat when you focus on something that's already at 100.

I find that later on, it really breaks the flow of the game when you have more then 3 or 4 teachers and all of them demand you make a choice.
I'd like an option to let the game itself to just pick one or the other based on what the lower stat is and allow you to just keep going forward.
-
I've had a few people comment on the tedium with the teachers. I'm planning a new GUI for the next version, and I'll try to add a little checkbox that lets you just skip all the text, and pick a random thing to focus on.
Also, I've updated the links to 0.3.3. It finishes the baths events, makes the 'Show Budget' button a little nicer to use, and cleans up some of the stat coloring. It should be the last version until 0.4, unless there is some big bug to work on.
-
If you update the GUI to just one window it should fix the problem I am having with 2 monitors. I am looking forward to it.
-
I have a weird issue where when you take an action like "public exams" with high int. you get text saying you did well but your stats decrease as if you'd failed. Also even when buildings are maxed out you still lose stats (rather than them growing) at the end of each year.
Other than that great work! A great remake to a great game.
-
The strange stat drop thing is a miscommunication issue. It almost always happens at the start of the year, but can occasionally happen later. The idea is this: There are hard caps on certain stats, like reputation. Rep can be no higher than the average of your academic stats. Often, you lose some academic stat at the end of the year. Now your reputation is higher than it should be. The next time you SHOULD gain some, you instead lose it to go down to your new cap. This sort of thing will be made much more clear in the new interface if I can help it.
The other huge cause is end of year stuff. At the end of the year, you get new students, and they are not up to the quality your school is used to. This drags down various stats. The amounts drained get worse as time goes by. That is usually why it looks like you are losing stats to buildings. The buildings are actually fighting the stat drain, just not enough to get an overall increase.
-
awesome game, but I have a sugestion that you might, or might not want to implement, at the moment, when you go to the gym or pool, a lot of the time its stuff that would happen in a dressing room, causing you to lose stats ( when caught ) when you just want to raise your stats, I suggest making a "dressing room" option to go spy/visit, then people can go to the pool or gym without being accussed of peeping ( like it would be in real life ) therefor, wouldn't lose any stats.
its up to you to add that or not, as for the game, I prefer your version over the "newer" version hhs+ from those other people ( possibly due to their version not being finished and barely anything you can do except for when you created your own story line / events )
thanks
-
i think that would be a good idea. a"you wanna peep, bro?" option, would make it easier, or lets say, not soo hard to get those reputation points.

I've suffered a pretty bad data loss, which wiped out all my progress on v0.4. Fortunately, I did back up my code at the end of 0.3. This means, while it'll be quite late, I can still provide future versions. Since v0.4 is going to take a while, I'm uploading it in parts. Normally I wouldn't do this, and won't in the future, but it seems reasonable in this case.
The new version (0.4.0) adds only one thing: policies. They are settings that allow you to swap between stats every year. A good example is the dress code policy. If you set it to require conservative dress at all time, the less-hot students will be happy, raising morale. On the other hand, it will increase inhibition for obvious reasons. If you have a lax dress code, students won't be quite as happy on average, but it'll make them much more likely to show off the goods.
A little later I will be adding in 'extreme' settings for some of the policies, which will need to be purchased with orbs. For the next release, I'll be adding new 'frequent' events. You may have seen them in the 0.3 version. When you have level 2 of a building, sometimes you will get a long-text event with stat change and sometimes an orb. These are the 'frequent' rarity class. In 0.3, they only occurred at low sexuality levels. I'm going to be adding more for the medium sexuality levels in 0.4. First up will be Around School events and Classroom events. Hopefully should be able to upgrade to that soon.
Let me know what you think.
-
I'm sorry to hear about your data loss. Wanted to say thank you for your work. I can't wait to dig into this one :)
-
Well, after playing around with this new version, I have to say I love the policy concept. It does a fantastic job of making you feel like you have some control as the principal. It also is a nice upgrade from the original where you could change the text books.

Since all links in the OP are dead, I should probably add this one where you can get the latest releases:

EDIT: Seems like you need to register on the DL site, but a spam mail address works perfectly fine.

An alternative link would be greatly appreciated.

Played once through it now and all in all it's nice, though HHS1 (not sure which of the several versions that exist on the web it is exactly, but it had an installer) did some (but not all) things better than this.
Positive about this version:
- Money is actually important here.
- More buildings to buy and upgrade.
- School population has effect on the money that you receive.
- Teachers are not all available from the beginning but join as the population of the school increases.
- Policy system has more noticeable effects than in HHS1.
- Teachers and their management feel more important.
- Interface feels a bit better.
- Sex stat separated in Deviance and Inhibition.
- Knowledge stat separated in Intelligence, Athletics and Artistry.
- More activities to choose from per semester.
- Random events are described in a lot of detail and match the pictures very well.
- It also doesn't utilize pictures with any famous characters in them that could destroy the immersion.
- Each year divided in four quarters and lasting 20 years by default. HHS1 has 15-20 years with three trimesters per year, though you are able to visit three locations each trimester by default, so it evens that out.
- More transparency on what the teachers are supposed to teach instead of color combinations.
Positive about HHS1 and not present in this remake:- Unlockable extras outside the game that can be purchased with the orbs that are earned after each playthrough, based on the performance in that round. Such as better starting conditions or different schools.
- Different schools have different starting stats (one school has very high sex but very low obedience and moral, which makes it quite a challenge to beat), making each of them require a different strategy and thus increasing the replay value of the game.
- Many random locational events required the player to make an additional choice, and based on that could the outcome of the scenario be quite different and have different impacts on different stats.
- More buyables could be obtained with orbs.
- Ability to open clubs if the pupils were interested in them, such as Tennis, Swimming, Cooking, Book Study, Music, Cheerleader and Hiking Club (later also Sexual Experimentation, Prostitution, Bondage, Exhibition and Gangbang Clubs that could be unlocked via buyables). Each club provided it's own set of situation images and took place at the Pool, Around School, Classes, Club Area or Gym locations.
- More classes. In addition to those from the remake it had: Japanese and Geography (in addition to English and History), as well as all the Sex classes that had to be obtained as buyables first: Theoretic Sex class, Practical Sex class, Masturbation class, Bondage class, Exhibition class, Gangbang class (as opposed to just Sexuality, Eroticism and Health class). Each of them introduced different pictures to the Classes location as well.
- Cat-Girls, Tentacles and Machines as buyable options!!!
- 5 orb colors, rewarding sexual activities, knowledge activities, (dis)obedience activities, moral activities and joy activities.
- Generally more challenging. Prices to purchase things with orbs were steeper and required more planning, Reputation value was easier to lose due to relentless parents that were not easily satisfied with what you did. Other values could also easy decrease and low joy led to suicidal pupil, causing heavy reputation impacts. Low obedience causes bad behavior and thus a loss of obedience as well.
- Sexual misbehavior of students in public areas was sanctioned with a loss of reputation, whereas sexual actions that nobody else noticed were only decreasing the morality stat and thus were "safe" to perform. So the player had to make a decision based on the circumstances of each event whether he could allow the act and gain a red orb that way or needed to sanction it to not lose his reputation.
- Up to 15 different endings, based on the stats you had at the end of the game.
- More image variety.

In reply to Shilo:
I'd have to agree with his positives on HHS1.
However, there is a slight coding problem.
The rule changes you had to work your way up to (such as sexy uniform/naked uniform) carry over into a new game.
The only way I've found to get rid of them is to completely erase my saved files and start over from scratch.
To people of the forum:
I know this forum is supposed to be of HHS remake, but does anyone know if the above error was fixed in a later HHS1 update?
-
Those progresses only carry over during the same session. Restarting the program preserves the general orb unlocks but not the ingame progress on school rules.

Neither the mediafire nor the rapidshare links work. Any chance of another download link?
