This is a full download of the original 1.30.0 alpha release. You'll need to install the latest update just below.
Update to r416 (446 KB, unzip it over any older 1.30.0 alpha version):

Note that this is an unstable alpha release, not even a beta release. What that means is that there will be many bugs, particularly with jobs done by girls each week. I wouldn't get too attached to any savegame you keep for this version due to the inevitable bugs. v1.29.4.6 is still the latest "stable" release. For those of you keeping track, the "r416" for this release indicates it's a build of revision 416 from SVN.
Please report any bugs that you come across over here (http://pinkpetal.org/index.php?topic=352.0), particularly if they're not job-related (jobs are still undergoing a lot of work). I'll try to hunt down and squash some of the various bugs, at least.

Trying a build on the Linux version - got everything to compile, but I'm not seeing any images for some reason. Investigating...

Images are loading. I think the resource manager is unloading them before they get a chance to display. I explicitly load the background wallpaper in Init() and half the time it's gone when it comes to the display loop.:
ERROR - Colored surface null: './Resources/Images/background.jpg'
Maybe it's an intialisation issue...

Seems likely. Valgrind tells me that the m_TimeUsed field is being tested before it's been initialised

Nope, that's not it. Apparently m_ColoredSurface gets used before it's initialised.
I've committed the changes I've made so far to svn, incidentally. Nothing major, just linux compatibility stuff, signed vs. unsigned comparisons, and the stuff I've mentioned here.

I've added the SVN revision string to the title bar so we can see the what version was used to build any given version of the software.

I'm getting this trying to compile now:
error C2065: 'uint' : undeclared identifier
Would "unsigned int" work just as well on Linux/g++/whatever?

yeah - it should be typedefed in one of the headers. unsigned int would work fine

This update includes several fixes, mainly covered in my posts over here (http://pinkpetal.org/index.php?topic=352.0). For all of the fixes pertaining to girl stats and such, starting a new game is required.

I just have to say for those hesitant to try this 'unstable' build, this is really playable. A lot of new jobs don't work yet of course, but if you play the game like it's version 1.29 it seems to pretty much be a bugfixed 1.29 like everyone wanted.

Does setting a girl as torturer give a chance to give the masochist trait or does that only happen if your torture them yourself?

No no, I mean the girls in the dungeon, although having a chance to add sadist to the torturer would make sense too. The point is though, she's tortring the slaves in the dungeon in addition to what your doing, so shouldn't that have a chance to add masochist to anyone in the dungeon?

Haven't looked at the code, but I'd expect that anyone getting tortured would get a chance of getting "Masochist" as a trait.
Maybe with a higher chance if the PC does it personally, since he's just naturally talented at these things :)

The script functionality fix does require you to start a new game for any scripts to work; the script data wasn't properly initialized before, so old savegames don't have the correct data stored. Hey, these are alpha builds.

I remember looking at the post in another thread (when im still a lurker :) ) that the building section is being revamped such as you can add kitchen etc.. will this be included in future release of version 1.30? thx

What is the purpose of the town prison on the map? Just curious. Also, do you get to train any children that come from any girls in the dungeon?

the prison if for your girls if the mayor raids your brothel and they have an addiction, and ive gotten girls that had the "your child" tag

Bah, I'm having any version of this game crash on launch :/ I suppose there're only two installs recently that would've messed with it, in theory...troubleshooting ahoy!

well, no luck on changing the antivirus back to the old one, and I have no clue what vs2010 would've installed that'd mess with it :p

I've done some testing in-game with the advertising job and it appears to reset to 0 somewhere above 300, or at least I was able to get it slightly above 300 before it resets and starts raising it from 0 and I go from 3k+ customers back down to around 1k customers. Also, my saves are starting to crash on me about 5/7 times, and after constant retries they finally go through to the next week, but then crash when I try to more to the following week. Any way I can have someone look at my save or log file to give me an idea of what's happening or what I have to change?

Just from checking briefly I see that you have several girls working on Movie related jobs, which are currently broken and will cause crashes. Try switching those girls to other jobs.

It was crashing much earlier because the movie job girls are very recent, but it wasn't being caused by those. I got rid of any girls that had duplicates and sold or killed the ones I didn't want. It's still crashing and I'm too new dealing with code that I don't have the slightest idea where to start looking.

Hmm. OK, I loaded it again and tested it a bit more, and it seems like maybe the dungeon is somehow getting overloaded with the huge influx you have each week. I'll note it down to investigate further and fix.

The Arena has never been coded into the game so far, if that's what he's talking about. Can't get rid of it if it never existed, right? ::)
Almost no jobs beyond the ones you see available now have any code whatsoever available, other than the Movie jobs, but those of course don't work right now.
As for that Building Management screen, it's in the current game. It doesn't do anything for you now other than spend your money on nonfunctional room layouts. The only way to get to it is Shift+u ("U") shortcut on your keyboard. Again though, don't save your game after buying room layouts there unless you just have no better use for your money. They do nothing yet but cost money.

its just a picture of a Planning screen you can open with SHIFT+U

Let's get the current build stable first, I think.
Two reasons for this. First of all, it stands to introduce a lot of new bugs: everywhere where room count is accessed, for instance will need to change. So will the way the game works out if a girl can do business, and how well it works out. There's bound to be cases get missed out, and it'll be easier to fix them if everything else is pretty much working.
Second reason is I'd like to get the Lua scripting just a tad more polished, so we can look at using that to implement the room details.

with this build r372 I have had it crash at loading a new game. The only difference I made was that I created my own list of items to use with the game and replaced the included list with mine. once I went back to the original list the game worked again. this was annoying me so I went back to the last alpha build so I could have my personal creations back.

any diagnostics in the gamelog? it shouldn't crash without giving you a line number for the file.

Gangs; why even have gangs if the girls can do the same thing? Gangs seem designed as the combat side of the organization which is cool. Except, the girls clearly have combat stats; already raiding the catacombs and providing security. It seems that converting all of the gang jobs will only subordinate a minor mechanic into the core mechanics.
Switching over to an all girl job set standardizes the rules set (say a gang job group), makes the combat/magic stats more valuable and hopefully works to reduce complexity especially as more feature creep sets in. Having your girls do everything also leads to neat potential effects like capturing other teams girls, bailing out those who get caught on the job, and rescuing those captured by the other side. This is also all on the more personal level of a specific character.

I figured when girls entered the catacombs or did things gangs do, they'd just lead the gang. Their combat/magic stat could increase over-all gang success by a percentage. Same as Guarding with Security. Just set the particular girl to a specific gang. One girl per gang.

It appears to have been getting stuck due to Incorporeal girls fighting; since they can't be hurt, the fight would end up just going on forever. I've updated the girl fight code to call fights a draw after 1000 attacks either way instead of just going on indefinitely.
That'll be in the next release.

Ah, ok Dagoth. I was wondering what those fights in the gamelog file were since I didn't see them happening in the game or in the command line when I clicked the next week button. Why do the girls fight were we can't see them? Just wondering what idea got you guys to implement that and make it pretty much invisible unless you open a file?

eh, Never mind I was an idiot and had too many girls trying to load into the game so it crashed because my computer couldn't handle it. I just tested by moving some of the girls and rgirls files to my back up folder for these files and it started loading the save games fine (well the newly made game that weren't running on all the rgirls and girls files).

Is it possible to install an overview in the Turn Summery showing as a bookmaker where how much gold was taken off where how much was taken?
Example: "Revenue:
Whores: 3000
Stripper 300
...
...
Total revenue: 3300 Gold
Weight:
Training: 240
Salary matron: 600
Gangs: 780
...
...
Total expenditure: 1520 Gold
Total amount of premiums received: 1780 Gold
or if it is negative then stop taking -300 or so.
The purpose of the whole would be: you can see exactly where how much goes away. and if given rethink unnecessary expenditure.
(So that the whole can be translated with Google translate my brain because I was not able to translate ...)

I think that probably the save file you tried to load is corrupted. I had the same problem with one game but loading the autosave worked fine (and I had ALL the girl packs and a 5-6 year old PC)

Those fights are from girls whose job is to explore the catacombs or capture beasts (yes, the beasts are generated as random "girls" just to get something with random stats to fight). The only way to see the actual blow-by-blow for those fights is indeed by viewing the gamelog.txt file; you can see the basic outcome in the turn summary for the girl involved, though.

well it happened on auto save as well and occasionally on creating a brand new game. Like I said I think it's my computers processor power, when ever I load a game or create a new game my cpu goes to 50-70% being used, on the times when it crashed the cpu went to 90-100% until I closed the WM.

ya, wm is hard on older comps... it runs high on mine too (though I've never actually had it crash on me though but then again i have over 1gb ram)

Well, right now I can only use my laptop that is 2 years old running vista(the source of my money hates me so I can't get the update to 7) and the crashing is just the program going non responsive, i call this a crash because it should not happen. My desktop has not had a problem with this game yet but I haven't had a chance to update the game on their yet (it's 2 years old but has higher ram than my laptop).

I was having some crashing issues every time I tried to load a game. I could play for 20 minutes or more before the game would crash and I could never load a saved game, even a game that had just started with no slaves. On a whim I decided to remove all custom girls and the game ran just fine, flawlessly. I added them back in and got crashes again.
Most of my custom girls are blatant cheats, so I got to thinking maybe it was all the traits I gave them, So I removed all the traits that didn't appear to do anything. Like long legs and puffy nipples. They don't seem to effect price or stats and now everything works fine. All saves work, I can play for hours with no issues with 4 brothels full of girls/daughters/grand daughters.
I haven't tried all the features, I read movies don't work so I don't mess with that. The Bar and gambling hall doesn't seem to work either. I get no loss nor apparent gains of income so I stopped messing with those features.

I'm not sure if these are bugs or known issues that more important things were being worked on first...but...
Setting a random girl to have the MILF trait (even at 99 and 100) has come up once in about 20 girls of that random type.
Custom girls never come up Virgin, even when they start with mostly or all 0's in skills and are under 20. (Which reminds me I thought I saw a mention of possibly adding Virgin chance configs and wondered if that was still something that was coming or if I should try and boggle at that config thing someone posted.)
Catacombs girls who are defeated and raped are still virgins (if they were to begin with) and seem to have no risk of pregnancy (config settings imply they can't?).
Some Matrons frequently lose health (especially when pregnant) and sometimes go on rest. Not really a problem if you could have 2, but having 1 makes them resting a risky prospect for some girls, especially beast capture and catacombs.
Customer Service girls no longer seem to get 'used' by the customers (that might have been a fix though as it only happened a couple of times in the update before 385) and XXX entertainers (if virgin before) remain virgins. Technically possible, but strange. Also, singer can get pulled off stage and played with, but cust serv, dealers and the 2 entertainer types can't?
I'm sure there was one more thing I was going to ask/mention... but I can't remember what it was...

I don't know how this bug came about or if it's been fixed but I one time had a girl that was both a milf and a virgin. I laughed when I saw this because it is physically impossible.
Oh and I think that since technically taking away a girl's virginity could be considered hurting them and as such the incorporeal girls should retain it, that is if they had their virginity when they became incorporeal.

Bugs-
After running a long time without saving, inventory gave me three of an item that I only bought one of. After progressing to the next week everything in player inventory was missing except item just bought. After this happened the second time I started saving before inventory transactions and didn't have the problem again.
Fluke beast pregnancy when monster chance was set in config to 0%.
Had one girl repeatedly annoucing a new pregnancy while still pregnant from first time. Seemed to happen quite a bit at 5 weeks when pregnancy was set to 10. This is the same girl that later had the fluke beast pregnancy.
Your daughter tag disappears after a period of time. (I think this has been mentioned by others.)
In endings: "permises" was misspelled. Also, one of the endings talked of a matriarch, but 80% of the pronouns were masculine, with a few that were correct.
Gameplay mechanics:
Just about all the daughters have 90-100% looks.
Children have house percentage of 60% despite being slaves.
Seemed to have an excessive amount of 'no customers interested in girl' for a number of girls. Even when pumping their stats way up with items, customers just weren't interested. I tried to stick several girls in a house by themselves, and eventually reduced to one girl stuck in a house by herself with a matron and a cleaner. The house had level 5 advertising and I still could only get one customer every two or three weeks. This went on until I finally quit the game, at which she still hadn't gone to level 1. I'm assuming this has to do with some trait or combination of traits, but wasn't able to single out which one/ones. The girls in question didn't seem to have traits I'd consider negative, like aggresive or whatever.
To get the game ending, a person needs to concentrate gangs on sabotage. Maybe it's just my playstyle, but after getting the first ending I was basically in a position to cycle through the different story endings rapidly one after another.

I've brought this up as well. Certain girls in my game can get 8+ customers both shifts every week. Most other girls are damn lucky to get more than 2, seemingly regardless of looks or traits. This creates a huge problem if you get a bunch of the 'dud' girls to start with; seeing as you generally need about two customers just to pay for adequete housing (for non-slaves giving at ~65% take) level and anti-pregnancy potions. All you can really do is hope you get a super slave-girl or two that will work 5+ customers at 100% to carry your business.

that's why I try to make sure all the whoring girls have 4+ fetishes, the rest either get sold or work the other jobs.

Is it just my imagination, or is training girls much, much slower in this version? I can have a building full of girls training for months on end and they still end up taking forever to train up - Constitution, especially, seems to rise slowly if at all. Or am I doing something wrong? :)

It does take time, particularly when you don't have any girls with significantly higher stats and skills training with the others; the amount gained by a girl largely depends on the amount the skills and stats of the others in her group are better than her own. One way to allay this is to use items to boost stats and skills on some girls, speeding the process up.
It was easier before because it was massively bugged, the main problem being that girls would get the benefit of training with every single girl in the training roster below her (which is why those towards the end of the list gained extremely slowly).

Slower is better (to me anyway), the original idea when the game was first made was to have it as a really slow process. This adds to the challenge, but takes away from the game being able to be a "have a quick play" style of game.

It also helps for you character to erm...work with one of the girls. That's why I'll be happy when you can use the lesbian/threesome/group options to get those skills up. Just wish service skills increased by 2 per like everything else instead of 1.

I think I'm holding up the show. I've got a handful of Lua functions to write before the mew scripting system can do everything the old one could, bugs allowing of course.
I'm getting them done at about one a night, so it shouldn't be much longer.

Save the wooting until it is done, I think. Work and RL are both a bit active at the mo'.
That said, I made a start of the sex function last night. If I can get that done and something to update the player stats then it'll just about be ready. Some support for changing traits would be nice, too.
After that, pretty much any omission could be coded around. Of course, there's still the trigger mechanism to look at after that. And I want to let scripts interrogate the brothel and gang lists, but those can probably wait until the bugs are out of the basic stuff :)

Even with the new Lua script support, we can probably go ahead and move back to "beta" designation for the next release. It's gotten to be pretty stable now overall, I think.

Sounds awesome. The new engine is almost done... well it is done but I'm putting it through its paces first.

A few weeks. I'm happy to have finished the engine though as my goal was to have it done before the end of the month.
I gave up moving it all into its own .lib file sadly as I keep getting problems with memory getting corrupted. When not used as a .lib it causes no problems whatsoever.

Can you downgrade a version by installing an older revision over a newer one?

Probably not. If there's a changed file version N, it won't be included ub version N-1 unless it changed in that release only. To get around this we'd need to include every possible file in very releases, which would mean that all update releases became full releases, thereby defeating the point.
Youyr best bet is to start from the full release closest to the version you want and apply the upgrade from there.
Why do you want to downgrade, anyway? I thought the current version was pretty stable.

It 'is' stable, which makes this the first alpha I've ever seen that was actually playable. Good job.

Except for the ridiculos libido bug, which is - for me - a gamebreaking bug.

playable -.-b. but it seem kos mos has a heal bug...every heal item only does 2-4 hp heal

If I remember correctly Kos Mos is a construct if so it might just be related to that trait (has happened before if I remember rightly)

Hmm... you're right, that one was fixed after r416, wasn't it? All right, I'll probably release a new version in a few hours or so, and mark it as the first beta. Doc's Lua scripting support might not be complete, but it appears to work perfectly for the included Chun-Li meeting script, so that should be plenty good enough for the time being.

I might have some code to check in if I can catch you before you make the build. Still won't be complete, but more so than at the moment...
