More is Less - too much crap to sort through.

I haven't played this in a while because I had not liked the direction it was going and the bugs kept piling in.  I downloaded the latest version and played it for a while and not only is it less fun, it backslid and lost some features that made it tolerable (ex. assigning all the girls the same job).

I think the developers need to start over and remake the core of this game and make sure it works before worrying about all the features that they are attempting to add.  I liked the concept of this game, but the execution of it is lacking.

As the game is now; it's a micro management nightmare with a horrible interface.

The game is called Whore Master, so why are we trying to be crime loads of this town (I never got that at all.)

Either pick us taking care of a few highly detained whores, or many simple whores; not both.  It gets complicated too quickly with little reward.  I mean the first building allows 20 girls and we have to nitpick every little thing about what they do.  In my opinion that's already too many considering the detail of each girl.

If the girls are going to be this detailed, then they should be doing all the work/jobs and get rid of the gangs entirely.  The gang setup is just broken from start to finish and I think it detracts from the game.  You already gave the girls skills and stats to do those things, let them take care of it.  This goes double for bar/casino aspect.

Of course if the girls are simpler, the opposite holds true (even if those things still need to be reworked).

Now don't get me wrong, I liked the game at start (I thought it was unique and the amount of potential customization is appealing), but now it's just a tedious menu game that forces me to worry about too much crap all at once.

There is a fine line between ranting and whining you know.

And there are a few of us that like the micromanagement. ( I know who would think someone could like something you don't.)

but please, demand more stuff from the dev's and tell them their work sucks some more. (Don't think you did that enough in your very first post.) I'm sure they'll get right on pleasing you.

Who says you need to micromanage, anyway?

1. Set a girl to work as Matron. She will take tired, injured, and badly unhappy girls off of work until they're better, then automatically set them back to the job they were doing.

2. You can multi-select girls in the list using the Ctrl and Shift keys, and set jobs or whatever for all selected. No need to do them one by one.

As far as bugs go, I'd venture that the game currently has far fewer bugs than it did back in 1.29 and earlier.

There has to be a balance between micro-management and interactivity, and I think the game is in a good place for it.  You set up your pattern, and by in large the game takes care of itself before then.  You're really just working on intergrating new girls in, and shifting jobs occasoinally.

You don't want to get too far away, or you end up in sim-brothel land, where you have almost no interaction with the girls.

There is, you just have to try harder... I mean, don't you equip your girls with items or something? Don't yu ever try to raise their stats by interacting with them? Or thinking about which girl to interact with in comparison to others? There is enough micromanagment in the game, you just need to do it.

Seriously, I'm confused here.  What micromanaging?  I could understand complaining about this back when the Matron was broken.  Now you can pay 200 gold a month to have the most of the work handled for you, or you can click 'Free Time' every so often on tired girls if you don't.  Are you trying to fill all 6 brothels or something?  There's no reason for more than dozen girls or so if you're simply trying to win.  If you want more income for more micromanagement, that's a player choice.

There are other games out there that meet the conditions you seem to want.  Slave Maker 3 lets you control one girl, Sim Brothel 2 lets you control a lot of boring girls.  WM went for a middle ground.  Nobody's pointing a gun at your head; if you don't the level of detail in WM play one of the other games.

My opinion is that all brothels should be limited to 5 rooms for whoring and 5 2-bed rooms for, you know, actually sleeping in.
This would mean 5 girls whoring at most each shift, and 10 girls total in each brothel.
I also agree with removing gangs.

The grinding is the only thing keeping this from being a glorified picture viewer.

And gangs don't need to be removed. Just tweaked to stop zerging.

Or better yet, make gangs from your girls.

Yes that is brilliant making your own gang from your girls. You could put together a crew from the same series and maybe the get a bonus. Ex: full Sailor Senshi team +15 magic combat or something.
Would need to include something like team tags for each girl for the team bonus but it would make for more customization.

I know what you mean. Bethseda called their last Elder Scroll game "Oblivion", but you spend the vast majority of it wandering around on Cyrodill. And Fallout 3 seems to be mainly about guns, rather than the airborne fission products I was expecting. I think I shall write and demand my money back.

As far as WM goes,  we could change the name to CrimeMaster, I suppose. But then we'd probably get people complaining that we gave way to much emphasis to prostitution, and what the hell have catacombs got to do with anything anyway? Whore-And-Gang-And-Magic-And-Catacomb-And-Tentacular-Horror-Master? It's got a kind of a ring to it...

to me, the early game, where you are very limited in what you can do, where you have to pay attention to the girls you want to "tame", think carefully about what your gangs are capable of, etc. is the best part of the game

once I have two decent gangs and maxed out weapon upgrades, the "business" runs itself
