They are going to continue writing small stories for sub-characters I believe. There is always a chance that they continue a story in couple of years, some of the stuff left unexplained/unexplored (unless they're planning to explore it in sub-stories).

A lot of stuff is unexplained, actually. I'm not even talking about the world, we know close to nothing about most of jinchuuriki or even uzumaki clan itself for example.

Yeah well, that's what I liked about it. Most of the story went without any big surprises, ending it with some twist would have been inconsistent and stupid. Hopefully they'll expand the last manga issue in Anime over several episodes, they REALLY wanted to end it with issue numbered 700 :D
