i can not seem to play the new demo nor can i add it to the current game folder without getting errors from the start ?

You cannot play the dev version, old alpha release should work as it is distributed. It is not useful to try and mix the code.

even with version 0.45 i seem to have trouble keeps crashsing even now i try to reinstal the game

also i always seem to get error messages when i want to add a girls pack from the forum

These packs are no longer compatible with the Alpha. You can use the packs shipped with the game or WM packs.

Hello !
I have the repository since you post, but apparently you do not add models by default? I still have the same problem from the beginning when I start a new game I have this error:

I think that's just doing it finds no character, yet I have a folder filled as indicated on this post:

I know the game is not finished yet but I would have liked to have a look except I can not add a single pack ...
You not have a pack with just a girl and a picture I can see how it works after I manage ?
You can also add a default girl in your repository  ;)

I think you just need to download the new packs, this sort of thing can happen if you're using old data files/pictures.

I don't think data files for Cherry's pack are available for download though... I attached to this post example of character file.

1) Your Ren'Py version is too old.
2) You PyTFall version is too old.

You can't really play the game properly, I mean even buildings are not setup :D It's why it's called a dev version.

The current dev version is 0.56. Iirc 0.45 is the released alpha.

It's just a number though, it's not like version changes after every single change in the code, even major one.

General rule is to keep the code as simple and as readable as possible. There is no coding style or paradigm because that just slows everything down. A bunch of people worked on the game so it's a mixed code base and not all of it is in use.

We're also using an advanced module called SimPy at the moment to simulate jobs which is not very easy to figure out.

i have SimPy installed (i belive, depends on version)
but im going to take time to get used to renpy and the like

Linux shouldn't be an issue, SimPy is in the repo so you don't really have to install it. Code base for the game is huge so it'll take a while to figure everything out.

I don't think the current tagger will work on linux btw, without wine at least. That would require a different compilation mode for the exe.

I don't think that you need tagger at all, it's useless cause we have more than enough packs you can download to start the game and test it. The logic of the game is written in Python, content partly in JSON and partly in Ren'Py script.

The whole game consists of many concepts that are intertwined, learning all of it even if you know Python really well may take weeks, so I guess you need to figure out the basics and find something you'd be interested in to work on, there are many, many options.

For a lot of stuff you don't even need to know Python, just have some imagination.

Pictures are not going to change. Data files might change, and are updated if I'm not mistaken. Data files are small anyway, and can be easily redownloaded.

Dunno about classic WM packs, Xela should know it.

I don't think that classic packs work anymore. With so many native packs, I am reluctant to still run wm packs in PyTFall. Those are definitely not even remotely useful for development.

We're trying to keep everything as local as possible, without too much fuss where that's not required.

There is a lot you can do without advanced knowledge of Python, I think knowing how the game works in general is more important. JSON/Binary doesn't matter much, you can replace 2 lines of code per loading routine and everything will be stored in/loaded from binary, that part is not really relevant to anything.

It's not easy to get involved with the project so far along, especially if you want to work on the core code... but even without that, you can work in many areas with just the limited knowledge of the games, like for example MC Setups at game start (we actually have 0 MC setups at the beginning of the game), new areas/events (requires basic understanding of Python/Ren'Py, mostly you can gather everything that you need from examples we already have), attacks/animations for BE, and generally more content in any area of the game.

I doubt that you can just jump into development of core code and especially buildings/jobs (in development at the moment) with just the basic knowledge of Python, techniques used there are very demanding.

But we have a dev environment setup so you can contribute whatever you feel like freely.

All plugins are downloaded/installed automatically. Project Viewer is the most import one to have. I also use a couple of others like whitespace, testautocomplete, actionhooks and etc. but you can make your own list. Program is really weak without Project Viewer, rest is not all that important.

Not really, and you're posting off topic, gen discussion is prolly a more appropriate place.

Screens are generally used to build interface, there are many examples in pytfall and you can find even more in cookbook section of lemma (renpy) forums.

I'm around guys. I can finish the texts I promised, not as unique as I wanted, but I do have 1 set final, it will be easy to search-replace key words & then doctor a few words.
I've been gone a long time, perhaps you did it anyway?

No, we were busy improving other parts of the game like exploration engine and battle engine, in hopes that you or some other writer will finish them before beta so there won't be a need for us to do it  :)
