Adding characters to 0.45 alpha

every time I attempt to add characters I get errors in code even though i just copy and paste the files in game/lib/chars or into the rchars - and if i manage to not get the error they just never appear

If you mean you try to add packs from threads like this one, then they are not suitable for the alpha, they were changed to work with the dev version aka beta which will be released later.

All available packs should be inside the archive with alpha. Can't be helped, alpha was released ~3 years ago and we kept working on the game all this time.
